Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic adjustments are used to address disorders of the musculoskeletal or nervous systems, most commonly treating misaligned or restricted joints that may be affecting disorders of muscles, connective tissues, nerves, or internal organ systems. Joints may become restricted for a variety of reasons, including improper movement patterns and biomechanics, injuries, or repetitive postural stressors. Restricted joints can create pain and discomfort, as well as lead to excessive movement in surrounding joints, therefore predisposing those joints to degenerative changes. By restoring proper movement and function in restricted joints, chiropractic adjustments can alleviate pain and tightness, as well as prevent future dysfunction or degeneration.

Dr. Erin uses a variety of hands-on techniques to suite her patient’s unique needs. Most commonly, she opts to utilize chiropractic manipulation techniques taught by the Motion Palpation Institute, but also may utilize low-velocity joint mobilizations, Thompson drop technique, flexion/distraction technique, and McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment.

Infants and children can benefit from chiropractic care for a variety reasons.

Dr. Erin is currently pursuing her pediatric certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and strongly believes in utilizing chiropractic care to support growing babies and children. Birth trauma is common in infants due to medical interventions during labor and delivery, and this can create symptoms of colic, fussiness, digestive issues, torticollis, sleep disturbances, or nursing difficulties such as latching. Additionally, as they grow, children may have delayed milestones, injuries, and repetitive postural stressors that can interfere with proper development. Chiropractic care for children includes gentle and specific techniques with minimal force, including sustained pressure or gentle Activator methods with instrumentation. Dr. Erin loves working with young children and families who wish to reduce medical intervention and have natural, holistic remedies for health and healing.
